Mobile Location Tracking Systems

Know the exact location of the phone in real time. SPYPHONE uses GPRS to deliver much more information at much lower costs. And because the gps coordinates are down loadable in a variety of formats, you can easily link to mapping software and making archives is a breeze.

There are a number of ways to track the location of a mobile phone and the accuracy varies on how much you are willing to pay and what type of network operator you have.

  • SPYPHONE GOLD offers you the choice of GPS or Cell ID. To use GPS you need a GPS enabled phone such as a Nokia N95, Nokia N96…
  • If GPS is not available, then the location is shown as cell ID. For Cell ID, please read disclaimer below

Lets look at the possible way to track location Cell ID, GPS or Operator Request

The first difference to understand is that Cell ID and Operator Request do not require any special equipment and will work on most devices, without any modification.
GPS

Using GPS requires that the device who location you wish to track must have special hardware. such as a Nokia N95, Nokia N96 or Navigator devices. For devices that do have GPS hardware, SPYPHONE will use GPS positioning , and you can see the co ordinates of the device in your reports when you log into your web account.

Operator Provided

This system requires that your mobile operator will calculate your position and provide it to you if you ask for it. This service is very rare, very difficult to use, and if it is available , it is very expensive. It uses the same system as cell ID, but because they are able to use other information that is available only to them selves, it is somewhat more accurate that basic Cell ID. Operator Provided location is not an option for the average guy, and if you want to prove it, call your operator and ask them if they can tell you the position of your stolen device!

SPYPHONE Cell ID

SPYPHONE mobile tracking uses the Cell ID technique. Here is how it works. .A network provider has several hundred radio base stations ( cells) that make up its network. Each base station is a “cell” which covers a physical area and these cells connect together to make up the entire network. The size of cells depends on the density of base station installed in a given area. Cell sizes can vary from 100m in cities to 3K in rural areas .A mobile phone connects to the network using the cell in which it is located.. As the mobile moves, it leaves one cell and joins another. The new cell then takes responsibility for connecting the phone to the network.

Every time the cell that “owns” the mobile changes, SPYPHONE reads the cell id and cell name ( if available) and delivers these to your web account. You can tell which cell controls the mobile by the name or by resolving the cell id against a database of cell id to locations.
Getting the Location

If the area name is not present in the LOCATION event reported in your SPYPHONE web account, then you can use our free cell id location discoverer to go “cell spotting” and track their alleged movements to the cell id reported. This cell id location discoverer offers the option for you to send the information to the SPYPHONE cell ID location database. This database will continue grow, and will be used to improve our service to our customers, and we will eventually connect this to Google Earth so that you can click on a location even and be taken to a map of the area. Please help us by sending the discoverer information when you are ‘cell spotting”.

Cell ID is not as accurate as some other techniques, and the results are sometime variable, because the cell coverage does not remain static, and one cell can shrink and a stationary phone may sometime seem to change position. However, the variation will only be to the cell next door, and not across town!! Cell id mobile location tracking can certainly provide enough information to answer the kind of questions that the average guy might want to know.

The advantage of using Cell id is that no special mobile is required, and the service is free!

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER ABOUT CELL ID LOCATION TRACKING

Cell ID location tracking system is a great way to know where someone is within an accuracy of about 1km but it is not a substitute for GPS tracking systems. The Cell ID system is only accurate enough to answer the question “Which part of town are you in” and not ” Which street are you in”. For the majority of users this is sufficient to prove if someone was lying about their location.

Cell ID location tracking is based on information that is freely available from the airwaves, and the location information is the form of a CELL ID, and the name of the CELL. The name of the cell is usually the name of a part of town, and so this is good enough to know where someone is.

HOWEVER SOME OPERATORS DO NOT TRANSMIT THE NAME OF THE CELL and in this case you need to look up a database of CELL ID to area name mappings. We are starting to create such a database and will make it available directly in to your web account in due course.

If your operator does not transmit the area name you may simply use our free tool to go to the places you suspect or were told they would be and verify the Cell ID yourself. So you could make a note of the cell id of the places( gym, office, bar) that you believe your cheating wife or cheating husband is at and then prove it later. You need to have a SIM card from the same network operator to do this.
